![]() The Venezuelan FN-49's are one of the most beautiful military rifle ever made. The 'later' variant (second four thousand) will have a stock cartouche 'Fuerzas Armadas Venezuela'. There are two 'variants' of the Venezuelan FN-49 the 'early' (first four thousand) has a plain stock. Most, if not all Venezuelan FN-49's were imported prior to that date so it should not be marked. If it was pre 1968 there will be no 'import' markings. One thing led to another, and now I'm curious about the whole thing. If not, where can I look for the import marks? I was doing the inventory and noticed that I don't have the importer's serial number for this rifle, only the original one. So, my question is, were Venezuelan FN49s imported before 1968? The Egyptian FN49 I have has the import mark on the barrel, near the muzzle, so that was the first place I looked on the Venezuelan one. I don't see any toolmarks where the import mark might've been scraped off. I've looked all over the rifle, and it's just not there. I have a Venezuelan FN49 which doesn't seem to have an import mark. The FN-49 found itself in direct competition with a number of more modern rifles such as the Heckler & Koch G3 and Fabrique Nationale de Herstal's own FN FAL, resulting in limited sales. Gentlemen, what is the going price for an Egyptian FN-49 in great shape? The serial number is only in Arabic-Indec characters, no European numerals anywhere. ![]()
